These wonderfully pure skin care products are brought to you as a result of an illness which made me re-evaluate the products I not only put into my body but also onto my body. When I was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME), and with conventional medicine not really offering any solution other than to rest, my partner, Pete, and I, read many alternative health books which seemed to suggest that limiting the number of daily toxins and chemicals to which I was exposed may help me feel better, quicker.
It was through this research that I became shocked and concerned about the number of harmful chemicals that I was 'slathering' (my words!) on my skin every day in the belief that they were not only good for my skin, but would make me look healthy and youthful to boot! However, we were finding more and more sources of information suggesting that some of the chemicals in the products could be harmful. It seemed like sensible decision to use products that were free of these potentially harmful substances. And so the hunt began...
It took a long time, lots of patience and plenty of energy (not good when you have ME!) to find products that were free of potentially harmful substances. Searching for them has been educational and many of our previous beliefs have been shattered. We were shocked to find that many 'organic' products, which we had believed to be the most healthy option, were able to legitimately contain the chemicals that we were trying to avoid. Products which claim to be 'natural' can still contain substances which research has shown to be linked to health concerns. We discovered that the only way to be happy about a product was to throughly research each ingredient, to see whether any scare stories or health concerns have been linked to its use.
Four years on and I am fully recovered and my quest for safe skin care has inspired both of us to start Pure Skin Care. We wanted to make it easier for others who would like to feel safe in the knowledge that what they are putting on their skin has not been linked to health concerns. Since our launch our product base has grown to include superb quality products to help support our natural, healthy and organic lifestyle.
We strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible and use biodegradable and compostable cardboard boxes, padded envelopes, void filler and parcel tape when we are packaging your order, and offer you a carbon offset delivery option.
